Braking Resistors
The elevator braking resistor is one of the core elements of elevator safety. Living in modern buildings became possible with modern elevators and modern elevators are possible if people can use them safely. The main issue is being able to stop an elevator cabin safely especially downward moves. This is where we need braking resistors.
According to basic physics, when an electric motor or mechanical system decelerates, the system turns into a kind of generator that produces an important amount of electrical power. This can be a dangerous issue, so we use resistors to consume this power and dissipate heat. A dynamic braking resistor quickly stops or slows down the elevator cabin by creating a braking force. There are variable ohmic resistors according to projects that can help motors to stop and create more heat.
As ISF Elevator, we know how to select braking resistors for VFD (variable frequency drives) by designing braking resistor calculation. General resistor types are;
-
10 OHM 1000W Braking Resistors
-
18 OHM 1000W Braking Resistors
-
25 OHM 1000W Braking Resistors
-
40 OHM 1000W Braking Resistors
-
50 OHM 1000W Braking Resistors
